Online learning brings a qualified teacher into your home, and with it, a responsibility to keep children safe. Here is a practical checklist for kids-safe online Quran classes.
Before You Start
- Ask how tutors are vetted. Qualification checks, recitation tests, interviews and background checks.
- Ask about recordings. Classes should not be recorded without parental permission.
- Check communication rules. Tutors should communicate with parents, not privately with young children.
Setting Up the Space
- Use a shared family space, not a closed bedroom.
- Keep the door open and stay within earshot.
- Use the parent's account for Zoom or Skype, not the child's.
- Turn on waiting rooms and meeting passwords where available.

During Classes
- Sit in on the first few lessons.
- Drop in unannounced from time to time; good tutors welcome it.
- Ask your child after class what they learned and how the teacher was.
Teach Your Child Simple Rules
- Never share personal details like your address or school.
- Tell a parent if anything makes you uncomfortable.
- Only join classes using the link a parent opened.
