Most Hifz schools in South Asia, the UK and beyond use a three-part daily system: Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil. Understanding it helps parents and students plan effectively.
1. Sabaq: The New Lesson
The new portion memorized today, from a few lines to a full page or more, depending on the student.
2. Sabqi: Recent Revision
Revision of the most recently memorized portion, for example the last 5โ20 pages, or the current juz. This is where new memorization is consolidated.

3. Manzil: Long-Term Revision
Revision of all older portions in rotation, for example half a juz or more per day, so that the whole memorized portion is covered regularly.
Sample Daily Plans
| Student | Sabaq | Sabqi | Manzil |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner child | 5 lines | Last 1โ2 pages | All earlier surahs, a few pages |
| Steady student | 1 page | Last 5โ10 pages | ยฝ juz |
| Intensive student | 2 pages | Current juz | 1โ2 juz |
Why It Works
Memory fades without review. By touching new, recent and old portions every day, students keep all three strong. Skipping Sabqi and Manzil is the most common reason students forget.
